The Benefits of Belonging to a Church |

There are many benefits of belonging to a local Church. Here is a list of just some of these benefits:
- A spiritual family to support and encourage you in your walk with Christ."...bear one another's burdens" - Galatians 6:2 (See also Galatians 6:10, Hebrews 10:24:25)
- A place to fortify your Christian faith by receiving consistent teaching in the Biblical pattern of Christian living which provides a context and perspective that keeps you focused on long-term goals rather than short-term gratification. Your beliefs guide your daily actions with regard to morality, integrity, relationships, love, finances, and more. A shared spiritual relationship can provide a significant foundation for a growing family relationship.(2 Timothy 3:6)
- Spiritual protection of individual believers under godly leadership (Acts 20:28-29) challenges spiritual leaders to "keep watch over" and "Be shepherds of the church of God". (See also Hebrews 13:17, 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12)
- Accountability which is important in spiritual growth (James 5:16)
- A place to develop wholesome friendships and be positively influenced by others "He who walks with the wise grows wise" - Philipians 2:3-4
- A place to discover and use your gifts to impact and encourage others. (1 Corinthians 12:4-27)
- The opportunity to be a part of a worldwide body (i.e., in our case this body is the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada) that is involved in meeting the spiritual, social and physical needs of people around the globe.
- Conveys a positve witness of Christian unity to the world - Jesus' prayer in John 17:23: "...may they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me..."
